The battle between a Text Based Logo and a Symbolic Logo
by
In the field of logo designing a client or a company that wants to get its logo designed faces two different situations, either to get the “Text Based Logo design” or a design which is called a “Symbolic Logo design”. It is addressed by many researchers as to which one of the two appeals the customers or the final consumers more. Which stays in the subconscious for a longer time having the impact of the actual brand. Let’s see how Text Based Logo and a Symbolic Logo differentiate from each other:
- Text Based Logo
The first one is “Text Based Logo”. Text Based Logo is the form which comes from the fusion of text together. When the designer chose certain fonts in a certain sentence, and that sentence must provide the philosophy behind the brand or it could be the brand’s tagline as well. After drawing up a line or a phrase, the designer puts together all the alphabets and the words and gives them a shape, molds them in such a way that the actual picture when looked at from far away gives out the image of a logo design for the company. If you look at the examples of Google, Cola-Cola, Visa, Disney and many other famous brands they all have chosen the Text based logo or logo type for their brand.
- Symbolic Logo
Symbolic Logo is the logo which stems out from the designing of the logo out of an imaginary or a relative symbol to the brand. In this type of a logo, a designer uses a single alphabet or no alphabet at all, just the imaginary shape which he makes a prototype of and gets it approved from the company and follows it up with a perfect design which company uses. Some famous examples of a Symbolic Logo are Apple, Honda, Sell, Puma etc.
- Conclusion
Hence it can be concluded that both serve the purpose well in their different ways.
